In New Orleans, Oswald had received a passport in late June 1963, and told his wife
Marina that he wanted to return with her to the Soviet Union. Marina said He was extremely
upset, very unhappy, and Lee said he would not lose anything if he returned to the Soviet
Union and that it would be better to have less and not have to be concerned about
tomorrow.
Marina would write the soviet Embassy in Washington DC again about the first
request she made in February for herself and her child June to return to the Soviet Union.
In this letter she would write "things are improving due to the fact that my
husband expresses a sincere wish to return together with me to the USSR.."
However it
appears Lee enclosed a note in which he requested the Embassy to rush his wife’s
entrance visa because of the impending birth of the second child, then wrote "As for
my return entrance visa please consider it separately."
According to Marina around this time She would recall.

Lee asked Marina to help him hijack an airplane to get to Cuba.
Marina would say of her husbands activities "I only know that his basic desire was
to get to Cuba by any means, and that all the rest of it was window dressing for that
purpose."
** "He wanted to be arrested, He wanted to get into the newspapers."
( The obvious question here,
Could it be, to look like a Castro sympathizer? )
On 23 September Marina and June departed New Orleans for Irving Texas, with Mrs. Ruth Paine, taking with them most of the Oswald’s possessions, apparently including Lee’s Rifle. Mrs. Paine was told that Lee was going to Houston and possibly to Philadelphia to look for work.
In Septembe, Lee applied for a Mexican tourist card, The tourist card that preceded his was issued on 7 September to a newspaper editor William G. Gaudet, who two days later departed for a 3 or 4 week trip to Mexico and other Latin-American countries.
Latter in an interview with the FBI Gaudet told them that the CIA had once employed him. A review of CIA files indicated That Gaudet, a former editor and publisher of the Latin American Report was a source of the New Orleans DCD ( Domestic Contacts Division.) And from 1948 to 1955 Provide them with information on Latin American political and economic conditions. And that Gaudet was a casual contact of that office between1955 and 1961. But he may have made contacts until 1969
The Warren Commission obtained from the Mexican Government a list of all Mexican tourist cards issued around the time Oswald obtained his. However Mr.Gaudet’s name was missing from that list. Gaudet testify that during that trip he did not encounter Oswald, whom he had previously observed on occasion at the New Orleans Trade Mart.
The Trade Mart that was built primarily through the efforts of one Clay Shaw.
Gaudet also stated that on one occasion he observed Oswald speaking to Guy Bannister on a street corner.
